I’m pretty pumped about this indulgent Drop Dead Recipe. It took several attempts to get just right, not that I’m complaining about having to eat 3 extra batches of rice krispie squares to eat…I’m sure Rhys didn’t mind, either! The challenge this month was to take the marshmallows out of the picture, so that they would be vegan- but marshmallows are the 2nd most important ingredient!! After plenty of testing, with different sweeteners and flavours, I found that agave nectar and peanut butter made the perfect gooey texture that regular rice krispie squares have. I almost never use agave nectar, but I bought some specifically for this project and I was really happy with how it turned out. You could maybe try brown rice syrup, although sometimes I’m not crazy about the flavour of BRS. I attempted using maple syrup and it produced a crunchier end result- not exactly reminiscent of rice krispie squares.

Also…here in New Zealand, rice krispies are called rice bubbles. How funny is that!
