Mint-Citrus Green Smoothie
Ya’ll know how us healthy living bloggers just loooove a good green smoothie. Well, I’ve got a doozy for you here. Fresh mint, plenty of citrus, greens, ginger, chia seeds…you just can’t go wrong with this baby. I drank it while singing Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love” because I was in love with drinking this smoothie…that works, right?
Go ahead, try it. It might look scary but it’s actually so refreshing and full of nutrients. Your body will thank you. Just keep sippin’.
I used swiss chard in my Mint-Citrus Green Smoothie (which apparently is called silverbeet here in New Zealand?) but you could substitute spinach or kale. If you’re new to green smoothies, I’d suggest spinach because it’s easily masked by the banana and citrus- you won’t taste it at all. I use dates for a bit of sweetness, but if you could also use a bit of raw honey, maple syrup, coconut syrup, stevia, etc.
A refreshing burst of mint and citrus flavour in a nutrient-dense green smoothie.
- Frozen Banana – 1, sliced
- Orange – 1, peeled, chopped
- Lemon – 1, peeled, chopped
- Fresh Mint – 2 Big Sprigs
- Swiss Chard – 2 Big Leaves, De-Stemmed
- Water – 1 Cup
- Chia Seeds – 1 Tbsp
- Fresh Ginger – 1-inch Piece
- Medjool Dates – 2, Pitted
Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender and mix until smooth. Enjoy!
