Naramata Bench Wineries
With travel restrictions lifted, Fraser and I jumped on the chance to take a weekend trip up to Penticton. We were in much need of a mini-vacay and a sipping on some wine seemed like the best way to enjoy it! We booked a hotel in Penticton and enjoyed watching the Euros at Brexit Pub and then we had a leisurely float down the Penticton channel. We rented some gear at Coyote Cruises for the float and brought along some drinks and snacks. It took about 3 hours to get to the bottom and we were actually pulled out early because the river was moving so slow. If you have…

EVIVE Nutrition – Smoothies, Soups and Bowls!
*Disclaimer: these Evive products were gifted to me however all of my opinions are my own and I am sharing them because I genuinely enjoyed this product. You may recognize Evive Nutrition’s signature smoothie cubes from Canada’s Dragon’s Den where they won over investors. Or, you may have seen their colourful images splashed over Facebook and Instagram. Evive’s smoothies are BLENDER-FREE, NUTRITIOUS and they TASTE GREAT! In my eyes, they win big on nutrition and convenience. All you need to do is pop the cubes out into a container, add a liquid of your choice (water, oat milk, etc) and shake! They are perfect for busy mornings when you are…

Vancouver’s North Shore Craft Beer Week
On Friday evening I attended the launch party of Vancouver’s North Shore Craft Beer Week and it was an awesome event located at the Pipe Shop in the Shipyards in North Vancouver. There was a great turnout of breweries (some that haven’t even opened yet!) to kick things off for craft beer week. I’m not the biggest beer drinker but I was super impressed with the beers that were served up in my cute little “pint” glass. The event included live music, food trucks, five north shore breweries pouring their beers, as well as three opening-soon breweries! Breweries in attendance included: Beere Brewing Co. Black Kettle Brewing Bridge Brewing Co.…

DIY Adult Capri Sun
Remember those little silver juice boxes you used to love as a kid that were more bag than box? I’m talking about Capri Suns! I don’t know about you but these were the king of all when it came to lunchtime trading in elementary school. Not much trumped a Capri Sun. I wanted to make something fun that would take us all down memory lane for my birthday last year and remind us of the good ol’ days. So I made some DIY Capri Suns…with a twist. I bought some tall and narrow resealable bags on Amazon because they suited the shape of a Capri Sun better than a standard ziplock…

Rhubarb Syrup
*This post is from 2012 but I wanted to re-share the rhubarb love* Well, I promised you one last rhubarb recipe for the season and here it is. It’s a goodie…..worth the wait 😉 This is a super simple rhubarb syrup- perfect for adding to a gin & tonic, vodka & lemonade or your favourite cocktail. Or, if you’re no fun, you could just make a nice alcohol-free pink lemonade with this. The flavour is light and sweet with a subtle rhubarb taste, not to mention how beautiful their light pink colour is. Add sunshine + friends + good music for extra enjoyment! A flavourful rhubarb syrup & how to…

‘Winter Buzz’ Bailey’s Almande Hot Chocolate
Ever since I heard about Baileys Almande last year, I had been awaiting it’s release with coffee cup (or hot chocolate mug) in hand. Lucky for me, Santy Claus brought me a nice big bottle of it – what a treat on Christmas morning. Finally! A boozy, creamy and sweet Baileys just like it’s dairy-based counterpart but made with almond milk so I can sip away with no tummy aches afterwards. Can I get a what whatttttt! Of course it’s amazing in a strong cup of coffee but it’s also great in hot chocolate. I found a beautiful vegan hot chocolate mix made on Bowen Island from Cocoa West. For…

Fruity White Wine Sangria
SANGRIA! My favourite summer cocktail to abuse on a beautiful day. I’m normally a pink or red sangria kinda girl, but on my birthday weekend in Whistler I went out of my comfort zone and gave the ol’ white sangria a try. What was I thinking!? White sangria is the bomb! Not too sweet and full of delicious summer, fruity flavour – nectarines, peaches, blueberries galore! This will make the perfect addition to any barbecue or party, or take it in a sneaky sippy cup as you float down the River of Golden Dreams! Fruit-infused white wine sangria perfect for a summer party or BBQ!

Drop Dead Recipes- Vegan Milkshakes
This month’s recipe for Drop Dead Clothing is all about milkshakes- two flavours to be exact. Toasted coconut and chocolate espresso…mmmmm. I’ve found all kinds of amazing vegan ice creams lately from brands like Almond Dream, Rice Dream, So Delicious, and my favourite Coconut Bliss. The flavours of dairy-free ice cream that they are coming up with now are just amazing. There is really no need to miss out on ice cream if you are vegan, or suffer from dairy allergies. I’ve created these two recipes as a basic guideline, and from there, you can create all sorts of different flavours. I’ve included a list of suggestions that I personally think would be delicious, but go ahead and experiment-…

Hazelnut Cashew Milk
This is a great recipe to switch things up from your usual milk beverage. After I stopped drinking milk, I started drink soy milk. Now, I am totally anti-soy expect when it comes to fermented soy…but that’s a whole ‘notha story! Nowadays, I drink almond milk daily. I always drink unsweetened kinds, and I was looking into finding a brand with no carrageenan in it. More on that here. Lately, I’ve been making my own almond milk which is so fun and soo easy. You simply soak a cup of raw almonds for roughly 8 hours and then drain and rinse them. Mix the cup of almonds with your choice…

Vegan Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Coconut Cream
This recipe for vegan hot chocolate with peppermint coconut cream comes at the perfect time for those in the Vancouver area. I don’t know about anyone else, but I was totally surprised when I woke up to snow today. We had a super sunny weekend and now this! I won’t complain, though. I actually like the snow, and it’s the perfect excuse to throw on your PJ’s or your epic onesie and stay warm with some hot chocolate. This is a great hot drink for winter. If you’re a fan of hot chocolate and you usually use the pre-made powders from the store, this will be an awesome treat. This…

Summer Pink Sangria
I love sipping on sangria, and this is my favourite recipe for it. It’s a pink sangria, which I like better than a white or red sangria. It’s fruity, light, and refreshing! But it’s so tasty that you might drink a little too much of it….not that I’ve done that or anything. The thing that really makes this sangria special is the ginger. It adds a little kick that is just right! I have made this many ways, from using orange juice one time to grapefruit juice the next, but the ginger always remains. So play around with this recipe using different fruits and juices, just try not to get…
