Drop Dead Recipes- Caramel Apples – No Corn Syrup!!
It’s October! I bet you all are well into Fall in the Northern Hemisphere- pumpkin spice, leaves on the ground, Halloween not too far away and of course, Canadian Thanksgiving. Well I’m in the midst of a month-long road trip to the South Island of New Zealand! Rhys and I will be doing a 4-day hike, and taking part in all the adventure that Queenstown has to offer. We will be visiting Christchurch, doing some whale watching and so much more! It happens that we will be travelling in the van on October 31st…so I think for the first year ever, I won’t be dressing up. I LOVE dressing…

Breakfast Parfait with Coconut Yogurt and Berry Chia Jam
I have to admit…breakfast is NOT my favourite meal of the day! I know so many people love breakfast, and love going out for breakfast on weekends, but that is soo not me! It is always too rushed during the week, and I’m the kind of person who eats sooo slow! And when it comes to going out for breakfast, the options are always slim for vegetarians/vegans. What I really look forward to is a beautiful homemade breakfast on a lazy weekend day. I always enjoy my buckwheat pancakes, but I think this breakfast parfait with coconut yogurt and berry chia jam might be my new, ultimate breakfast. I used Coyo…

Drop Dead Recipes- Mango Mint Summer Rolls
I’m sure some of you are scrambling to take advantage of the last few weeks of Summer. I’m still over here in New Zealand, and though it’s barely felt like Winter, I’m more than ready for Summer. Eating these as I created the recipe was like a burst of Summer….these mango mint summer rolls are so fresh, and light. I have always love rice paper wraps, and their ability to be able to be filled with just about anything. I think this mango and mint combination lends itself perfectly to the cooling cucumber and rich peanut sauce. I’ve made this sauce before using almond butter and it works just as…

Drop Dead Recipes- Mango Berry Crumble…In A Jar!
This month I bring you another little dessert recipe and it’s perfect for Summer. These mango berry crumbles are served in a jar so they are portable and great for taking to BBQ’s at your friends or to the beach. You can bake them in the jar itself, and just put the lid on and they are ready to travel. You can really use any combination of fresh, Summer fruit here- but I chose a combination of blueberries, strawberries, and mango. I used buckwheat flour in the crumble topping so it’s entirely gluten-free and I used coconut sugar and maple syrup as sweeteners to keep things refined-sugar free! Head over…

“The Simpsons” Donuts
This month’s recipe for Drop Dead Clothing has been released and I’m so excited about it. In case you didn’t know, Drop Dead Clothing has recently released a new collection, and it happens to be an Itchy & Scratchy collaboration. I may not be the hugest Simpsons fan in the world, but I can appreciate greatness when I see it, and this is awesome! I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these items! To go along with the new collection, I had to make something Simpsons themed. Of course, the first thing that came to mind was Homer Simpson’s favourite donut. I searched high and low, all…

Drop Dead Recipes- Veggie & Black Bean Chili
I know most places are creeping into Spring right now, but there are always those cold, wet, rainy April days and who couldn’t use a warming bowl of chili on those days. I am heading into the New Zealand winter and kind of unsure what to expect. I know it will probably be a lot less dreary than endless Vancouver rain, though! I kind of look forward to those gloomy winter days when you can cozy up with a nice warm bowl of soup or chili. This veggie & black bean chili is bursting with flavour from aromatic cumin, coriander, and chili powder. It’s packed with yummy extras like portobello…

Drop Dead Recipes- Sushi
I couldn’t wait to reveal this recipe for sushi to ya’ll and thankfully, I didn’t have to wait for too long. If you haven’t seen it already, my latest Drop Dead Recipe is up. You can take a peek, by clicking here. I have made four vegetarian sushi rolls, and three of them happen to be vegan as well. There is a veggie roll, a mango and cream cheese roll, a pickled beet roll, and a sweet potato and avocado roll. In the mango-cream cheese roll, you could easily use Tofutti or another vegan cream cheese substitute. This recipe makes the best sushi rice, just like at your favourite…

Drop Dead Recipes- Vegan Milkshakes
This month’s recipe for Drop Dead Clothing is all about milkshakes- two flavours to be exact. Toasted coconut and chocolate espresso…mmmmm. I’ve found all kinds of amazing vegan ice creams lately from brands like Almond Dream, Rice Dream, So Delicious, and my favourite Coconut Bliss. The flavours of dairy-free ice cream that they are coming up with now are just amazing. There is really no need to miss out on ice cream if you are vegan, or suffer from dairy allergies. I’ve created these two recipes as a basic guideline, and from there, you can create all sorts of different flavours. I’ve included a list of suggestions that I personally think would be delicious, but go ahead and experiment-…

Drop Dead Recipes- Vegan Sugar Cookies
It’s that time of yeaaaaaaaaaaar!! I just wanna curl up and watch Christmas Vacation and ELF!! Christmas is one of my fav times of the year and I am a little sad to be ‘missing it’ this year. By missing it I mean I won’t be at home for Christmas, as I arrive in New Zealand on Christmas Eve. I do look forward to meeting a lot of new people and spending Christmas with Rhys’ family and friends, in the sunshine. It will be a different Christmas, that’s for sure. In the meantime, I want to take full advantage of Christmas festivities while I’m in still in Vancouver so that…

Drop Dead Recipes- Butternut Squash Soup
This chilly month, I made a warm, comforting butternut squash and apple soup. Of course I decorated these in Drop Dead fashion! I love the taste of this soup, with sweetness coming from apples and maple syrup. The spices I used offer healthful benefits, especially with the miracle spice- turmeric! Head over to the Drop Dead Clothing Blog to check out the recipe…and my Dead Jersey! I am so stoked this week, because I get to go to not one, but two concerts. I’m a huge fan of music, and I love going to concerts. This week I am seeing one of my all-time favourite singers, Matt Mays. A couple…

Drop Dead Recipe- Mediterranean Pasta Salad
This month on Drop Dead Clothing, I’m sharing a Mediterranean pasta salad. I really wanted to come up with a recipe that is great on the go. Something portable for school or work. I think this vegan pasta salad does the trick…and I used gluten free pasta, making this entire recipe gluten free! Full of flavour and hearty enough to keep ya full throughout the day, I hope you’ll try this one out. Check it out here!

Drop Dead Recipe- Ice Cream Sandwiches
These are top notch when it comes to summer desserts! Vegan peanut butter cookies, combined with banana ‘ice cream’ and chocolate…what could be better! These take a little bit of time to make…most of it not hands-on though (just freezing time). But make a big batch and you will have them for the rest of the summer to enjoy whenever you want. Interested in the recipe? Check it out here on Drop Dead Clothing’s blog. While you’re there, take a look at my cute little cropped sweater, part of the DD summer 2013 line. I love it!
