    How To Prepare Irish Moss Gel {Video Tutorial}

    May 13, 2013 / 9 Comments

    It’s about time I did another YouTube video, I think! It’s been quite awhile since I made Vegan Vampire Cupcakes or taught you How to Open A Young Coconut. I really am gonna make an effort to do more videos…especially with my new camera that I got for Christmas. I’m stoked about it! I wanted to talk about Irish Moss today, as it’s a super cool ingredient and it’s come up in the news a lot lately. What is Irish Moss? It’s a seaweed! A red algae to be exact found in the Caribbean and on the Atlantic Coast of Europe and North America. It’s packed with vitamins and minerals, like…

    Creamy Hemp Seed Pesto Pasta {Gluten-Free}

    April 22, 2013 / 13 Comments

    It appears that Spring has finally sprung and I’m crossing my fingers that the sun stays out from now until the end of Summer. I’ve got a really exciting road trip planned for this Summer with my boyfriend, and every time the sun comes out, it gets harder and harder to be patient and wait for it! Click the pic below to check out my “Pinspiration” for our trip! In the meantime, I’ll try to focus on Spring, and distract myself with cooking. A few days ago I wanted to pump up the protein factor in pesto, so I tried making one with hemp seeds instead of pine nuts. I was…

    Vegan Sweet Potato & Black Bean Burritos with Avocado-Cilantro Sauce

    April 12, 2013 / 10 Comments

    Hellooo there! I’ve got a sweet little burrito recipe for ya today. It’s not your usual burrito….considering it’s meat-free and dairy-free, but I assure you, it’s delicious. You might want more than one. Or you might just want to eat all the avocado sauce with a spoon….no? Just me? Anyways. The steps are simple and these come together so quick, they also freeze great and I’ve eaten quite a few for quick lunches at work. I’m sure my co-workers were jealous 😉 Make these in your Banjara Maxi Dress from Drop Dead Clothing and your Fuun Koneko Beanie and it’s even more fun, I swear! Even Justin Bieber does it….uh-oh.…

  • Drop Dead Recipes- Vegan Lemon “Buttermilk” Pancakes with Blueberry Sauce

    March 15, 2013 / 11 Comments

    My latest post for Drop Dead Clothing is allllll about breakfast. I’m actually not that big into breakfast foods, but I have always liked breakfast for dinner. Pancakes at suppa time, yes please. I feel like it’s way too difficult to find vegan options for breakfast when you’re dining out. It’s a lot easier to stay at home and whip up these pancakes! No eggs, no dairy! I also made these pancakes wearing my new fav sweater. It’s so cozy, and I normally wear a lot of black, so I like the light blue for a change. These are lemon-flavoured vegan pancakes topped with a mouth-watering blueberry sauce. Has anyone…

    Sup ya’ll…I made a pie. It’s not a normal pie. It is a unique, nutritious, delectable pie. You will not believe what it is made out of…but try it, and you really won’t care anyway. You will just gobble it up! When I eat dessert, I really prefer a raw dessert. What I mean by that is that it will be gluten-free and dairy-free, completely vegan and free of refined sugars and flours. That way I can eat something totally decadent and even if it is high in fat or sweeteners, I can still feel good about them. I know that I’m not using any ingredients that are terrible for…

    Drop Dead Recipes- Vegetarian and Vegan Pizza Recipes

    February 20, 2013 / 12 Comments

    Hey everyone. You all like pizza, right? K good. That’s what I thought. How many of you have made pizza at home before? We’re talking crust and everything. It’s not that hard!! I think the outcome tastes better than delivery pizza, too. And guess what? If you don’t like olives, or green peppers, or mushrooms, you can just leave them off! No more picking off each thing you don’t like. The crust is whole wheat as well, so it’s going to be healthier than the white processed crust you might get with delivery or frozen pizzas. Some people might think a pizza isn’t a pizza without cheese, so I’ve made…

    Raw Lemon Lavender Cupcakes

    February 11, 2013 / 14 Comments

    Okay, so y’all know I love the flavour combination of lemon and lavender. I’ve been making these lemon lavender shortbread cookies at Christmas time for years now! But I wanted something healthier, that I could still enjoy as a treat featuring those flavours. I thought about raw truffles, and raw cookies, but after digging up some lemon cupcakes from the freezer, and having my boyfriend compliment them profusely….I settled on raw lemon lavender cupcakes! The base is nutty and sweet, with subtle lavender flavour. If you want to pump up the lavender, I’d use a full teaspoon of dried edible lavender. The ‘icing’ in this recipe is amazing…it’s a challenge not…

    Raw Superfood Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

    February 7, 2013 / 7 Comments

    Whoaa! The count is in…and according to my Instagram, people love chocolate-dipped strawberries. When I posted a picture of these raw superfood chocolate dipped strawberries, like after like kept coming in! I think this is an awesome recipe for Valentine’s Day this year. It’s healthy, raw, dairy-free, gluten-free, and most importantly, these strawberries taste amazing! The raw chocolate alone is so tasty, you will want to dip just about anything it- I’m not even kidding. Okay, well…not everything, ya know. And when it comes to the toppings, you can use whatever you please. My suggestions are more superfoods because superfood chocolate is apparently just not enough! We’re talking goji berries,…

    Vegan Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Coconut Cream

    January 14, 2013 / 7 Comments

    This recipe for vegan hot chocolate with peppermint coconut cream comes at the perfect time for those in the Vancouver area. I don’t know about anyone else, but I was totally surprised when I woke up to snow today. We had a super sunny weekend and now this! I won’t complain, though. I actually like the snow, and it’s the perfect excuse to throw on your PJ’s or your epic onesie and stay warm with some hot chocolate. This is a great hot drink for winter. If you’re a fan of hot chocolate and you usually use the pre-made powders from the store, this will be an awesome treat. This…

    I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas, and I hope everyone got their party on for New Year’s Eve!! I know I did…..hah! I learned that in downtown Vancouver at 2am on New Year’s Eve, it may take two hours to find a cab. I learned that you may have to walk for blocks and blocks while your feet are killing you. I learned that none of that really matters as long as you had fun, dancing for hours with your friends! Now I’m taking some time to figure out what my goals are for this year, and how to make them happen. Did anyone make any big resolutions?? If…

    I’m so stoked to be able to tell you all that I’ve paired up with my favourite clothing company, Drop Dead Clothing,  to provide their new blog with vegetarian & vegan recipes. I really love this brand, I think I’ve bought just about every piece of clothing they’ve come out with (and so has my boyfriend!). I kicked things off with deliciously addictive sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo. Definitely vegetarian and easily veganized by use of vegan mayo, which I used! Sweet Potato Fries with Chipotle Mayo Everyone loves sweet potato fries (or yam fries). I know because Google told me so.  They are eaten all over the world,…
